Xiaomi, one of the fastest growing giants in the smartphone industry, just introduced the world to its latest software update called MIUI 7. There was an event in Delhi, India today, where the MIUI 7 was presented. While some critics may say that Xiaomi seems to be updating its software a bit too quickly, this update is long overdue by users at the Chinese smartphone company. What exactly were these loyal fans expecting and will they be pleasantly surprised? Let’s find out.
The only thing we need to know is that MIUI is not only reserved for Xiaomi phones only, but in fact the operating system can be used on other brands as well. MIUI is, in fact, almost as famous as Android and has around 150,000,000+ million users and that number will surely grow in the years to come. MIUI 6 caught the customer’s attention with its original customizable features and improved battery and speed performance. As with everything else, the MIUI 7 is bigger, better and faster. Well, it’s at least better and faster (two out of three isn’t bad). Xiaomi Vice President Hugo Barra claims that MIUI’s new look will be up to 30% faster than the lower version. As seen before, the MIUI operating system mirrors Google’s Android system and the 7 is at MIUI like what Lollipop 5.1 is at Android.
There is a special feature on the MIUI 7 which will soon be available with Xiaomi phones only where videos can be set to different contacts instead of the old boring ringtones. This 5-second video repeats when you receive a call. The operating system will help the device reach its true potential by stopping unnecessary waste of data while unwanted apps are running in the background. It also increases battery performance and can be extended by 20%. Opera Software powers and helps the operating system to restrict unwanted web traffic. With a bigger screen, the MIUI 7 offers its users a bigger font that looks really neat on the device and makes it easier to read.
For added protection, there’s a child lock feature that prevents kids from seeing anything beyond what they’re supposed to see. The facial recognition feature is one of the best in MIUI 7 and works where the camera recognizes a face and can create an album with all the photos of that person. A colorful interface theme is what the MIUI 7 brings to its viewers in 4 different hues (Pink Blush, Ocean Breeze, Rose and High Life). These themes can be customized according to user needs.
