As the United States sinks beneath the waves into darkness, the rest of the world watches one man’s desperate antics. The Trump administration from day one has been played as an endless bad soap opera. The tirades, utter disregard for the truth, and sheer daring in his behavior have pointed out to this nation that we, as a society, have succumbed to a much lower acceptable standard of behavior. When more than 70 million people have actually voted for Donald Trump, it is a climax for America’s decline.
Who is to blame for the past four years of very bad reality TV? The complacency, utter disregard for civility during this pandemic and even before, reflects the pathetic, callous and unapologetic nature of Republican parties to the welfare of the general public. The so-called blind allegiance to the Trump administration has dramatically reduced this country’s ability to curb this deadliest pandemic and spur genuine, genuine economic growth for all Americans. When we consider these factors in there is the great travesty of America today.
It is within our capacity, as a society, to correct the imbalances that exist today. Government created imbalances. We must remember that when government becomes obsessed with power, it always produces policies that accelerate the takeover of that power. And, through control, they in turn gain more power and wealth at the expense of the public. A public at the service of government.
If this nation is ever to regain its ability to rise above the ashes of tyranny where we have a government that truly serves the people, we the people must overcome our complacency and make the effort to educate what the people are doing. ramifications of the status quo. and will do to our company if we choose to do nothing. So far, we have chosen to ignore Jefferson’s prophecy. It is in our right to change the power structure that exists in our government and return it to the people. That old adage “If there is a will, there is a way”. This applies here today.
The sheer audacity of Trump and Republicans to ignore public protests in this time of global crisis once again proves their contempt for millions of Americans. This writer can think of no other way to describe their blindness to see the fate of not only what this pandemic is doing to our country but, the economic devastation that is befalling millions of people. Millions of people crying out for financial and economic aid to be ignored. Proof of this is their reluctance to extend the stimulus bill and other economic aid to offset the financial and economic devastation that was already sweeping the country even before the outbreak of the pandemic.
What these last elections indicate is that we must overcome the extremes that exist today. It is these bridges that exasperate the storms that rage across the country. It is quite obvious that the Trump administration and Republicans are too stuck on their own agendas. Agendas that only widen the great gaps that exist today. If President-elect Biden manages to use the power of the presidency and present a definitive blueprint for this nation, something no president has done since John Kennedy used the Ten Articles of Confederation of Reform. national economic as the basic plan, just maybe the UK. States can finally get rid of the albatross of a self-serving bureaucracy that has kept the public slaves of our own government.
