Does your world seem upside down?

I don’t know about your world, but mine seems to be upside down. The world I knew was one where people honored elders for their contributions to society and families had values that transcended race, gender, or creed. But lately I don’t see this side of our country or the world and I only see and hear a violent, racist and politically correct bombardment in spoken and written words. What happened to America that was more than greed and power? Where is the country that was created by God and lived out his principles? I wonder.

I have to admit that I try to protect myself from most of the daily news programs. I watch enough to find out what’s going on in the world but I don’t saturate my mind with biased or misinterpreted comments. Celebrities have lost their credibility and unfortunately with them most major news agencies can no longer trust honest reporting. It seems everyone who was a trusted source, including politicians, has an agenda that may not be in the best interest of our country, its citizens, or the world. I find it difficult to adapt to this disorientation. Where is the compass that I was looking to know in which direction I was traveling? As I get older, I sometimes miss my eyes and ears. Sometimes I feel like I’ve heard and seen things that don’t make sense. Intangible things like respect for people and the values we hold dear seem to have disappeared. The love of the country is subverted by the love of indulgence towards oneself. Using others to move forward seems to be more the rule than the exception. Politicians shift positions like the wind rustling through the trees. You can’t tell which way the wind is blowing. Is it wind or hot air?

So what should I do with all of this? I guess there are no simple answers to the dizzying array of problems facing our world. As a citizen of this great country, I can only voice my concerns at the ballot box or through dialogue with the parties that control the mechanisms at risk. Are there enough people with a clear mind left to correct this mistake before it is completely lost? I ponder such questions to make sense of a sometimes insane world. I hear suspicions of discontent over the capacities of decision-makers and an aspiration to return to civility and honesty in government. This is good news for me. Those of us with standards and values must start making our voices heard to save our country from decline. Growth is a delicate thing and change is inevitable, but uncontrolled growth and unfounded change will only create more chaos in an already chaotic world.

For me, I will do my part to create a transition to a future of choice, freedom and the ideals that created this great land. I will follow the direction of my life by following the voice of the Spirit in my life. Listening to this voice gives me a path that cannot be influenced by the preaching of the secular world. My world is a world of kindness, love and recognition of the weaknesses of the human species and the desire to amplify the good in everyone. Perhaps if enough like-minded people act before it’s too late, we will regain a foothold on the qualities and character of those who came before us. It is up to each of us to leave a legacy of loving kindness given to us by our Creator to create a world that represents the principles we hold so dear.

Will you join me and create an intention vortex in this world to make this happen?
