Whenever you go camping, you should always aim for meals that are easy to cook or prepare that will fill you up and give you energy for the outdoors. Sandwiches are simply a great choice as they are on-the-go, perfect for a day of hiking or exploring the woods.

But this time try something new other than plain peanut butter and jelly – try these delicious campfire sandwiches that are so satisfying!

The Ultimate Campfire Breakfast Sandwich

What do you need:

  • 4 sourdough English muffins

  • 4 eggs

  • 2 cups BBQ pulled pork (can be left over)

  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese

  • Butter

Melt the butter in a medium-sized cast iron skillet over a campfire, then quickly crunch the muffins until golden and crisp. Put aside. Heat the BBQ pulled pork in the same pan until heated through. Remove from the pan and set aside. Finally, fry the eggs the way you like (this is the best flowing liquid!).

To assemble the sandwich, put 1/2 cup pulled pork, 1 slice of cheddar cheese and 1 egg. Wrap in foil and place on campfire for 30 seconds or until cheese has melted.

Pie Iron Campfire Pizza Sandwich

What do you need:

  • Prefabricated pizza dough

  • 1 green pepper, diced

  • 1 cup low-moisture shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce

  • 1/2 cup sliced ​​black olives

  • 16 pepperoni slices

  • Oil

Divide the pizza dough into 8, stretch and flatten into approximately 4.5 x 4.5 inch squares. Brush or spray the pie iron with oil and place a square of pastry on the lower baking sheet. Top with 1/4 of the pizza, mozzarella, peppers, olives and pepperoni. Garnish with another square of pastry. Close and lock the pie iron. Depending on the intensity of your heat, bake your sandwich on it for 2-3 minutes or until the crust is golden.

Remove from the pie iron and let cool on a plate. Repeat with the rest of the ingredients.

Ham and cheese campfire rolls

What do you need:

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls

  • 1/2 kg. deli ham

  • 12 slices of Provolone cheese

  • 1/2 cup melted butter

  • 1 1/2 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 tablespoon of dried onion

  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar

In a small bowl, combine the butter, mustard, onion and brown sugar. Put aside. Prepare 6 sheets of heavy aluminum foil. Slice each roll and place 1 ham and 1 cheese slice on each. Close the sandwich. Place 2 rolls in each sheet and pour the butter mixture evenly over the rolls.

Seal pouches with foil and heat over campfire coals, 10 to 15 minutes or when buns are toasted and cheese is melted.
